A photogram is a direct print from an object. I laid the flowers, grasses, and other things right on the photographic paper itself and turned on the light briefly. This creates what's called a paper negative. I then used this paper negative in the enlarger, so that the objects were magnified quite a bit. And what was black became white and so on to include a whole range of tones.
